About Partners for Learning in Winnipeg

Louise Carson is a certified reading clinician and the owner of Partners for Learning. She has worked in education for over 30 years as a classroom teacher, private tutor and a consultant to classroom and resource teachers. She’s also served as a university lecturer at the undergraduate and graduate levels at two universities. As a reading clinician, she has worked with both parents and schools by providing educational assessments and programming recommendations for all learners.

Why Choose Partners for Learning?

At Partners for Learning, we provide educational assessments that determine current achievement levels while detecting learning problems. Each student receives an individualized instructional plan based on assessment results that also reflect the Manitoba curriculum expectations. Secondary students receive supports related to their school assignments, tests and exams. Your child's program is designed to teach skills and strategies that can be transferred to the classroom. Our tutoring session is delivered by one of our certified teachers, each with his or her area of specialization.

Our company has been in operation since 1988. Our location in the south end of Winnipeg has small rooms designed for individual tutoring. It is the only full service educational support centre in Manitoba that is operated by a certified reading clinician. Our certified teachers on staff have areas of teaching expertise. All individual programs are in keeping with the Manitoba curriculum.

A Checklist for Worried Parents

We take immediate steps to identify key patterns of behaviour that may be a roadblock on your child’s path to education. We’ve created a checklist for worried parents to help identify bad habits. When considering us, ask yourself if your child:

  • Has a defeatist attitude about himself and learning ("I'm dumb...This is too hard...School is stupid...I can't do this”)
  • Exhibits inappropriate behavior (fights a lot, becomes the class clown, easily frustrated, complains about school / teachers, daydreams, skips classes).
  • Cries easily, has stomach aches on school days.
  • Dislikes parental involvement with homework or studying.
  • Struggles with grade related assignments, reading / writing / math tasks, tests and exams.
  • Fails to complete or hand in assignments.

If you have identified with any of these points, your child may be in academic trouble. Partners for Learning can help get your child on the right track today! Don’t hesitate to call us and set up an appointment with Louise.
